The Mountains of El Camino de Santiago Primativo

The Mountains of El Camino de Santiago Primativo

I am sat here in a small bar in a small village in Northern Spain. I can not believe what an amazing experience this has come to be, and I am only six days in! Since my last post I have walked from Tineo to Borres to Berducedo and finally to Grandas de Salime. Everyday has been a great experience, but yesterday was beyond incredible. The whole day was through mountains, and at one point we were above the clouds; we could see everything!

Some things are just better experienced than seen in photos or read in words. This was one of those experiences. The gratification of climbing and working so hard to get to the top of the mountain is what made the experience so special. I also feel that sharing the experience with others makes it even better because if there weren’t other people there I almost wouldn’t believe that it was real.

The cows with a clear view of the mountain behind.

Some of the old pilgrim's hospital ruins on the mountain.

The pictures above can not even begin to describe the feeling of arriving on top of that mountain. I am so proud to have accomplish what I have, but there is still much to come. About 150 km to go until Santiago!
