El Camino de Santiago

A Forgotten Monastery.

A Forgotten Monastery.

An old monastery lies only .5km from el camino primitivo, yet few pilgrims visit it. It’s remains are beautiful, and one is able to walk through what is left. A large part of it was destroyed some years ago. The church that is attached is still in use today, but doesn’t appear to be kept up.

It is surprising some of the things one may come across on El Camino. I never would have imagined making such close friends along El camino – we have become like a family, spending everyday with one other. I also have been pleasantly surprised with what I have seen that one would never see when in a car. It has given me a chance to see things that many people these days just don’t get to see… it is amazing what you can see if you just take the time to look!

Again, this is an experience that I would change for the world despite the aching feet and my sweaty smell.
