Dubrovnik is a popular tourist destination in Croatia along the Mediterranean Sea. in 1979, Dubrovnik became one of UNESCO’s world heritage sites. Historically, it was a city based off of maritime prosperity.
Today, the main part of the city is still encased in it’s tall medieval walls. Stepping through the threshold of the medieval gates take the modern tourist back in time. The medieval walls paired with the beautiful blue sea is an unforgettable site. The interior of the city walls is largely pedestrian. Following the small, winding walkways, there are many hidden treasures to be found. Getting past the touristy feel is difficult at first, but there is a lot to see outside of the typical tourist’s scope. Climbing up of these small alleyways away from the main drag, we found a row of small restaurants. At night, there are bars that pop out of no where.

Venturing off the beaten path, we followed a road out of the city to get a view of Dubrovnik in it’s entirety. Sadly, the weather was not in our favor when we were there. This is a trip I would love to do again some day. The next time I go I would hope for better weather and a little more time there.

The city seems completely quite at night and becomes even more miraculous with the reflections of the stars and streetlights dancing on the floor beneath your feet. It is like a whole different world.
Although it may seem quite, there are places to go if your looking for some night life. Here, we stepped into a bar and ended up meeting two guys there were from the city in which I was studying abroad in (Oviedo, Spain). They had come there for work. Again, an instance of the world seeming so small. We hopped around to a few different bars. Ultimately, we had to take an early night for our early flight the next morning.

We stayed at a hostel that was quite a walk from the old part of the city. My suggestion is to try to book a place a little bit closer, even at the expensive of spending a couple more dollars a night.
