One Long Train Ride from Budapest to Bucharest

One Long Train Ride from Budapest to Bucharest

Traveling through Eastern Europe, I took a train from Budapest to Bucharest. We had originally booked a flight, but midway through our travels half of the flight got canceled. In order to make the second half of the flight, we took a train from Budapest to Bucharest (the airport in Bucharest was a whole different story). It was a long train ride but a fun one! We ended up grabbing some beers from the bar car and playing cards.

The craziest part about this train ride though was bumping into someone from MY HOMETOWN! He had been living in Egypt and was on a small trip away, and I was studying in Spain at the time on a small trip away.

This is one of those moments when you realize how small the world really is!

Also, the Romanian beer, Ursus, that they had on the train was pretty good. I was quite impressed!

  1. Thats mad. That actually happened to me once when I was driving in the middle of Arizona and stopped in a petrol station 5hrs from any town. Nobody knew I was there but bumped into somebody I knew!

  2. Hope you had a bit to check out Bucharest. It is a nice city and I completely agree with you about Otopeni Airport. Stumbled onto your blog and am really enjoying it. Keep up the awesome work!
