The University of Glasgow is the epitome of what I think of as a beautiful old campus. Something about universities such as these gives them an aura of intelligence and authenticity. It makes you feel as if you are walking in the footsteps of the many academics that came before you.
By the way — Harry Potter fans — this is where they filmed Harry Potter learning to fly! When I first walked into the open courtyard, I was in awe! I felt like I was in the world of Harry Potter!
The friend I stayed with in Glasgow actually went to this university, so he was able to give me a little tour around the campus. We strolled through some amazing lecture halls and climbed up a spiral staircase to the top of a tower.
My friend also took me to Ashton Lane, a cute little street lined with small pubs (photo below). It is where a lot of students hang out between and after classes. There is a wide variety of pubs, some even with outside seating.
