A nice hike through some dense woods in the Smoky Mountains brings you to the Laurel Falls. The hike is moderate with a slight incline, but the path is paved for easy navigating.
At the falls, there is a bridge that crosses in the middle of two large waterfalls. The adventurous can take the time to walk off the beaten path a bit in order to get a little closer to falls. Always remember that mother nature is powerful. As I watched some of the “adventurous,” I cringed and wondered if they had a death wish considering how close they were getting to the edge.
If you continue on the path beyond the falls, you are met with some old growth forest. The path continues upwards for a couple of miles, but the roundtrip distance to the waterfall is about 4 miles. If you are in the Smokies, also check out the Rainbow Falls. The hike is a little bit more strenuous but well worth the hard work.
